So sometimes the smallest words can make all the difference; they can comfort and they can inspire.
It truly speaks to her character that she shared some of the words that helped her through some of her darkest hours.
It truly is a motivation and inspiration. I gladly bought this book the day it came out Demi said, "There are always going to be highs and lows, heartbreaks and victories, and everything in between.

This profoundly candid, illuminating and uplifting book full of inspirational and motivational quotes and tips, personal reflections and goals , is simply sublime. Regardless of whatever personal journey you may be on, I would highly value this comforting read of impacting implication. Demi Lovato is a truly remarkable individual and I certainly cherish her words of wisdom. Dec 08, Kimmie rated it did not like it. Really cliche, I know I should not have had high standards for a popstar that wrote a self help type book.
I really like demi lovato and respect what she has been through so I expected it to be better than it was. Though I love Miley and Eminem, quoting them in a self help book Did not work for me.
Or resonate with me I've been there for Demi for as long as I can remember She is such a huge inspiration to me, and it's not hard for me to say that I honestly just love, love, love her. When i bought this book today, I was just like, "OH! A page a day of Demi!
Now, i just can't wait until the day turns January 1 so i can start, because hey- i feel like starting in advance is cheating. Anywho, love this and I can't wait. Jan 01, Andi rated it it was ok. Well, I don't want to hurt anybody's feeling but I expected way more than what I really got from this book.
I think this is a good example how a famous people can make money from almost nothing. I like Demi, there are some similarities in our lives, both suffered from different things so I expected more deeper thoughts.
But actually this is just a book with some nice quotes in it. Demi repeats one idea, one thought several times. I think there's no originality in this book. Anyone could write so Well, I don't want to hurt anybody's feeling but I expected way more than what I really got from this book. Anyone could write something like this, not such a big deal. Demi Lovato is a really big inspiration of mine.
Her rise to stardom, her fade, and her rise again was always something that I think makes Lovato a hero. I've always looked up to her and strive to be more like her so when she released a book about her struggles, I was insanely excited.
But a book full of quotes was not what I was looking for. I was hoping for something more on her actual struggle and journey with her addictions, more in an autobiographical sense, but this book is literally made u Demi Lovato is a really big inspiration of mine.
I was hoping for something more on her actual struggle and journey with her addictions, more in an autobiographical sense, but this book is literally made up of quotes and little blurbs about how she takes the quote. And her writing isn't really that great. It sound like she was assigned to write an essay for each quote and decided to wait until the last minute to do it. Her advice was almost hypocritical. On one page she would say to continue to follow your dreams but a handful of pages later say not to daydream about the future.
She always gives goals for each of the days, and those are anything but goals. One for example said "The next time a friend or family member shares good news with you, make sure you joy is sincere. If you don't feel joyish about it, then how can you make sure you feel that way.
And also, anytime you make Miley Cyrus seem like a good person by quoting one of the few "semi-inspirational" things she says, then that's a big minus for me. I think Lovato had good intentions but didn't carry it out as well as she should of. Maybe she should have spent more time with it instead of rushing to release it or she should have taken a different approach.
Though a lot of what she says is incredibly inspiring, and the cover is absolutely goregous, and I will always love Lovato for her strength and story that she has shared, this is just not a good book. Feb 17, Zahraa Maytham rated it did not like it. I was planning on reading a page each day for the rest of the year but I just couldn't stand it and I had to finish it so I won't bother myself to open and read another stupid phrase. I really think there should be some rules in publishing books.
One of them must be not to publish diaries of uneducated 6 year olds. Another one is not to publish something similar to a diary of a 6 year old this book will be included in this rule. Self-help books should be written by people who are experienced an I was planning on reading a page each day for the rest of the year but I just couldn't stand it and I had to finish it so I won't bother myself to open and read another stupid phrase.
Self-help books should be written by people who are experienced and specialists and not by teenage drama queens, and famous people shouldn't use their fame to publish anything and expect their fans to like it no matter what.
I'm pretty sure all those 5 stars reviews are from her fans, otherwise the book added nothing new. The book consisted of pages of "lights at the end of the tunnel, everyone is beautiful and forgive your enemies. Like, seriously? Also, there was an awful combination in the quotes she mentioned. I'm not even sure Demi understood the quotes cause the explanations she wrote below them had nothing to do with the quote. I don't hate Demi, but she shouldn't have published this book, or any book since there's no sense of literacy in it.
If her intention was to help others who are dealing with what she dealt with, that's what her voice is there for. There's no need to have it all. View all 5 comments. Nov 27, Claire Vizzi rated it it was amazing. While I am only in the middle of the book; I think it's amazing. There are quotes from a range of people, and demi gives her own interpretation of each, as well as, a goal for each day.
Going through my own traumas I think these positive affirmations serve as a daily reminder of staying strong even when you feel the worst. It's definitely worth the download, and gives people in recovery strength when they need it. Nov 19, Kaila rated it it was amazing Shelves: This book is meant to be read one page a day, I of course being a "Lovatic" went ahead and read the entire book and it was great!
Demi starts the book with an aspiration followed by a personal experience and why she loves the quote and how it helped her. Then she leaves a "Goal. She has overcome a lot and it was nice to read about what she's gone through and what it took for her to get to where she is today.
This may be a bias review but I do hig This book is meant to be read one page a day, I of course being a "Lovatic" went ahead and read the entire book and it was great!

Books by Demi Lovato. Telling me that I have to forgive those who hurt me and were completely aware about it, knew how much it affected me and they only made it worse because "they are flawed and were probably suffering more than you" is a complete different thing.
So, just because they were supposedly suffering that gives them the right to turn my life into Hell? Why didn't anybody tell me that before? That means that I can go and ruin someone else's life just because I'm suffering. I went through psychological and physical abuse when I was nine and later on. I went through sexual abuse when I was even younger. You can't even imagine how much pain that causes, unless you've been through the same.
You can't even imagine. Fear, suffering, shame, emptiness, depression, self hatred. I was nine and I cried myself to sleep. I was nine and I feared going to school. I was nine and I had to spend a whole class with ice on my face because they punched me that hard my cheek was almost violet.
I was nine and I found myself on a corridor half naked because they decided it was a good idea to pull me on a tight grasp and lift up my skirt so everybody could see my underwear. You know what my teacher did? Even worse: she defended the agressor. You know what the director did? Nothing, but telling me I had a "little-star-know-it-all" complex. You know who I was? I was the new girl and while the "popular" clique decided they hated me, almost all the other kids decided that too.
That happened the very same day school started. Mum had reunions with the directives, with teachers, with everybody. She called many parents to talk about it. What parents did? Defending their children, in spite of all the evidence they had against their children's behavior. They blamed me. And what did I do? I'm still asking myself that, because I don't know. And I don't want to play the victim role, but that is exactly what I was.
A victim. They were not suffering. They were happy kids, with no family problems and no monetary problems. I had them, as my mum lost her job that year, and we were just alone. Now tell me again: they were the real victims?
